AVIATION INCIDENT SCENE MANAGEMENT COURSE

AIM:

The aim of this course is to give Local Authority Fire Officers an insight in to operations at an aircraft accident/incident on or close to an aerodrome. The course involves a small amount of theoretical input followed by Command and Control Simulation (VR Suite) and consolidation through the use of practical scenarios concentrating on the tactics and techniques required by Fire Services at both civil and military aircraft incidents.

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course all students will be familiar with:

  • introduction to Airport Operations with case study
  • emergency planning at UK Licensed Aerodromes and effective liaison
  • aircraft construction (overview)
  • aircraft Incident Tactics and Techniques – Civil and Military
  • rescue and Firefighting requirements at UK Licensed Aerodromes
  • the roles of Airport RFFS and LA Fire Services
  • practical application of command of incident using Command Simulator
  • preservation of Evidence and role of Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB)
  • practical scenarios using 737, 747, Trident refuelling, Shorts 330 (scene management off airfield) and Military
  • aircraft Internal Fires including 747 (Flashover) Scenarios
